About No Upload File Tools
No Upload File Tools is a free website with tools for images and PDF files. The tools run in your browser, and you can use every page without creating an account.
What the site offers
Six image tools compress pictures, also to a fixed size in KB, resize, convert and crop them and remove their metadata, in JPG, PNG and WebP format; the converter also reads AVIF, GIF, BMP and SVG and has pages for WebP to JPG and PNG to JPG. Eight PDF tools merge PDF files and pictures, extract, remove, rotate and reorder pages, add page numbers, turn JPG and other pictures into a PDF and save PDF pages as JPG or PNG pictures. Every tool page explains how the tool works, how its result is calculated and which mistakes are common.
How the tools work
The pages are prepared in advance and delivered as ordinary web pages. When you choose a file in a tool, your browser reads it from your device and the program code of the page processes it there. The files are not uploaded to our servers, and the site has no server that could receive them: it consists of pages and program code only.
Pictures are decoded and written by your browser itself. PDF files are written with pdf-lib, an open-source library under the MIT licence, and their pages are drawn with pdf.js, the open-source PDF engine of Firefox under the Apache licence. Both are loaded from this site only after you have chosen a file.
The content stays readable when JavaScript is switched off. The tools themselves need JavaScript.
What the tools cannot do
The tools have limits that protect the memory of your device, for example 50 MB and 50 megapixels for a picture and 100 MB for a PDF file. They do not read HEIC photos or password-protected PDF files, and they do not recognise text in pictures.
The tools have been tested automatically in current browser engines on a computer. They have not yet been tested systematically on real phones, where large files can exceed the available memory.
How the site is funded
No Upload File Tools is free to use. It may show advertisements to cover its costs.
Advertisements carry a visible label and are placed away from the buttons and input fields of a tool. The site does not use pop-up advertisements. When advertising is enabled and permitted for you, the page loads advertising scripts from third parties.
Accuracy
We try to keep the content correct and up to date, but mistakes are possible. Keep your original files, and check a result before you rely on it.
